Great Deals Take Flight

If you travel often, whether it's for business or pleasure, then you will want to take a good hard look at airline credit cards. Airline rewards credit cards are a great way to take advantage of your every day purchases and are designed to benefit businesses and private consumers alike.

All the major banks and credit card issuers offer travel rewards credit cards. Many are similar while some are highly specialized. For instance, American Express has a special business relationship with Delta Airlines while Chase has an affilaition with both American Airlines and United Airlines.

All of the credit card companies, including Discover Card and Capital One, also offer generic airline credit cards as well. These allow cardholders to fly just about any airline they choose and also guarantee that they can fly without restrictions and blackout dates.

Carefully read the applications of the frequent flyer credit cards that interest you before you apply so you will fully understand the details of the various programs. And, as with all credit card offers, you must also be aware of the fees and interest rates that accompany the offers that you are considering.

There are some truly great deals to be had but if you carry a monthly balance you must be aware of the fact that rewards credit cards usually have annual fees and charge higher interest rates than general purpose credit cards. The reason being is that they want to offset the cost of their rewards programs. So be sure that the benefits outweigh the costs before you apply for an airline credit card.
